Product Description
Food-grade sodium bicarbonate is a high-purity white powder. Identical to regular sodium bicarbonate in chemical makeup (NaHCO3), it adheres to strict food-safety standards. With a fine, granular texture, it's odorless and has a slightly salty taste. It can readily dissolve in water, splitting into sodium and bicarbonate ions, and is stable under normal storage conditions.

Application

Food-grade sodium bicarbonate has multiple uses in the food industry. It serves as a leavening agent in baking, reacting with acids in batters to produce carbon dioxide gas, which makes bread, cakes, and pastries rise. It helps adjust the pH in food processing, for instance, in cheese-making to control the acidity during curdling. In the production of beverages, it can be used to regulate acidity, ensuring a balanced flavor. Additionally, it can act as a cleaning agent for food-contact surfaces due to its mild alkaline nature, removing residues and killing some bacteria.
