Magnesium chloride hexahydrate, also known as magnesium chloride hexahydrate, is a common inorganic compound with the chemical formula MgCl₂・6H₂O. It is typically found in the form of colorless transparent to white crystals, which can appear as prismatic, acicular, or flake - like structures. The pure form is a colorless monoclinic crystal, while industrial - grade products often have a yellow - brown hue due to impurities such as magnesium sulfate and other chlorides.
• Appearance: It is usually in the form of white or colorless crystalline powder or solid with a distinct crystalline structure.
• Solubility: Highly soluble in water and ethanol. It dissolves quickly in water to form a clear solution and can also dissolve in boiling water and other organic solvents.
• Hygroscopicity: Due to its six water molecules of crystallization, it has strong hygroscopicity and is prone to deliquescence in humid environments.
• Density and Melting Point: The density is approximately 1.56 g/cm³, and it decomposes at a melting point of around 116 - 118℃.

1.Agriculture
• It can be used as a fertilizer additive to help plants absorb nutrients more effectively, thereby increasing crop yield and quality. It is also used as a defoliating agent for cotton and to impregnate wood to make it fire - resistant.

• It acts as a coagulant in the production of tofu and other food products.

• It is used in the processing of textiles.
